What's the process...?
Okay, so i've constructed a model out of styrofoam. Now i would like to paint it. What's the best process for this? Should i put car-body filler on? how many coatings? Next do i apply the colour spray? how many coatings? and finally do apply the varnish, to make it shine?
i always use a combination of mudroc(plaster bandage) and plaster of paris. this makes the sculpture more sturdy. and is a good base for acrylic paints. you can use pva glue after the acrylic instead of varnish. just make a 50/50 mix with water. sounds odd but it works and is waterproof once it sets.

Model Car body filler ?
Recently I have began to build model cars again. I was poking around on some websites about modeling and they kept mentioning using a sort of filler to fill all of the cracks between parts that you glue together, like on the engine for example. My problem is they never mention what they use or where to buy this stuff anybody out there have an Idea ??
I've been building plastic models for the last 35 years... if you're working with plastic model kits what you are looking for THIS:
Squadron Green Putty: http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=SQ9050 (it adheres well to the plastic seam, dries with little shrinkage, and sands nicely)
Testors Putty: http://www.testors.com/product/0/3511X/_/Contour_Putty_58oz (Not my favorite, but it works)
Bondo would WORK... but it comes in such LARGE quantities that it simply wouldn't be worth it !!
