minor differences. pull up a spec sheet for both cars
pretty big difference actually. Corvettes tend to have slightly larger flow for the heads, aswell as a higher flowing intake manifold, plus a slightly larger cam, the corvette is also lighter in weight.
I wonder what wheel / tire combos he had on that LT1 cause I know at a 20 start on my stock 97 LT1 I go side ways!
A U T O M A T I C
LOL i love the "boom headshot" counterstrike reference lol.
the ls1 was put into 97+ vettes and 98+ camaro and firebirds.....the lt1 was in the cars from 93-97
i hate it when ppl say its a corvette engine....the engine is in the corvette/camaro/firebird...... minor differences if any
ohh wats lt1 then?
A corvette engine.
what ls1?
Somkeday I'll be rich and put a LS1 in my Camaro and supercharge it... (keeps on daydreaming)
so what? the reason is stroke. there is a theoretical top speed for a piston. the shorter the stroke the higher it can rev because it has less distance to cover per revolution. if i made a motor with a 1cm stroke, theoretically it would be able to rev to like 100 thousand rpm.
Dude, F1 cars only turn 16K RPM and it takes some serious shit to stay together. A B-series Honda built from a Dart block will no stay together far past 10,000 with 4340 shit in it. The rods strech, the pistons hit the cylinder head, and the mother fucker decintegrates.
dunno bout 400, but the turbos do add big chunk of the total power. but the same applies to many turbo'd engines. the point is they Do have them.
Lol yah and without those turbos that hp drops down to about I'd say 400?
i never said it was a road car. clearly a motor that'll rev to 20k isnt practical. but the point is there are motors with really small displacements pumping out over a thousand hp. which would smash any efficiency "to the ground". one company also just made a transverse mount, 2.6 liter v8 that makes 400hp n/a for gm to consider.
Lol hp is rated off torque, divided by RPM times gear. No its not impossible, but just so you know that car was 1100hp for an F1 car ( not a street car ) and its twin 30psi turbos not to mention. And like I said Bavarian themselves stated it as a mistake and some what of a joke...
so then explain why its not the only tiny engine churning out incredible hp numbers? if you knew how hp was calculated you would realize its not that impossible. they rev to the sky and don't make shit for torque. there are others out there.
Lol you're an idiot. I did look it up, it was a joke on an F1 car which was released with a dyno sheets from a machine that f*cked up. I got read that on Bavarian's homepage...
lol, look it up bud. 1.5liter bmw v8 putting out 1300bhp. no, theres no 1299hp. it exists, and its not the only one of its kind.
1.5L 1300bhp? Ugh...riiight... with what? a 1250 shot?
they recently did, its not for sale or anything yet. its like a gtr spec v or some bullshit like that. i know it beats it in a circuit, probably because thats what it was built to do? dont get me wrong, i love v8's, i own a camaro. i dont understand how they smash efficiency though. how about bmw's 1.5 liter 1300bhp motor?
When did Nissan make a car that beats the ZR-1? And the Gt-R only beats the z06 in the circuit, top end and quarter mile the Z06 wins. And point really is that a V8 can reach that kind of power without having to fully deck the car out. Kind of smashes the whole Japanese efficiency thing into the ground...
yeah, other cars have more potential, but this car is in a way optimized. and nothing changes the fact that it is a race car. everything has its purpose, this was built to go around a track. it beats the Z06, but the ZR1 beat it. so nissan made some other bullshit gtr to beat the ZR1. and isnt that the point of a race car? to optimize it? shouldnt chev make like 800hp vettes?
That is not the way I should have stated it, my mistake. It is measured at the flywheel but it is measured in gross hp prior to 1972 and in net hp ever since. Gross is hp measurements with the engine on a dyno stand and net is with all emissions, exhaust, air filter, belt driven accesories and other power robbing accesories etc. being on the engine in a dyno run. So the vette is 385net hp which means possibly 425 to 475 gross with prob 340 to 360hp being put the ground due to parasytic loss. |
