A Lingenfelter holds the worlds fastest street legal 0-60 time of 1.6 secs and 1.4 unofficial. and it did need a better driver, lol

7000RPM is fairly low. Your average redneck on a budget at the local drag strip can spin a traditional pushrod engine to 8 grand without much trouble, and he can throw a 200 shot of juice on top of it too.

wow, hmm, why would they give a car 650 or more horsepower so it could go 65 mph on the highway. Listen fuckbag, learn your cars, the reason they build hotrod versions on normal cars is so that you can race them and do well. If they didnt build it to go fast, then it would only need the 100 or so horsepower required to get most cars to the legal posted speed limits in most of the world. And i do know that some cars are built to run faster or roads like the autobahn, but this car was american.

I'm very surprised that the SL was able to take that Supra. That lingenfelter cams/heads vette needs either a better driver or better tires, that launch was pathetic. Motor trend tested a Lingenfelter C5 that run 0-60 in 1.9s, now that's nuts. That has to be the most violently undrivable car there is.

The things that's expensive IS the engine. What you think non-AMG SL's aren't luxurious :). The Z06 is relatively cheap because the engine is nowhere near as expensive to manufacture. It still amazes me that Chevy got a pushrod truck motor to spin to 7000rpm.

It's a big hang up for them, and I just laugh when overpriced Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches, Benzes, BMW's et al see the Z06 pull past them. Beautiful cars, all of them and still superior in build quality (except for maybe the Lambos). But buying a car that costs as much as a house and still getting matched or beaten by a car 1/2 to 1/3 its price- just because of some snooty disposition- is the triumph of madness over reason. Since then, everyone's so convinced of American inferiority that even when a quality work like the new Vette comes along, they're so stubbornly convinced that they won't believe the new reality, even when the international automotive press and the competition (both domestic and foreign) confirms it.

veyron is already modified with 4 turbo's with 10 radiotars and merc's v12 got twin turbo so it is modified.

The sl65 is twin tyrboed and the vette was a head and cam car and was still faster plus the sl65 is a v-12 vette is a v-8 you do the math and tell me what the better car is.

how on earth do you expect to "modify" a car that is worth probably double the price of your house? they have the best engineers in the world working for the better part of a decade to achieve those results. if you could find ANYONE that can modify one of the already most powerful cars on the planet, chances are they already work for bugatti. think about it.
