Corvette ZR-1 hits 205 MPH

does anyone one know were this track is or what its name is... Beacuse it's not Nardo in Italy...

Kind of disappointing I think. I thought it would be faster than that. It has got more a lot of power than Z06 (more than 110 hp). Also, the speedometer maximum speed is 220. Way too far from 205

I have a question if your dad has a acr Viper why haven't you post any videos of it.

the acr is a track only vehicle so comparing it to a street corvette z06 is crazy. compare it to a corvette built for the track like the Le-mans corvette would be alittle bit more fair. and the fact is that zr1 vette like you see in the video would still beat the acr viper ass. like I said in other comments ZR1 WILL RAPE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you are right about that, the viper is deffinately a track car. it will rule the track while the zo6 will rule the streets. i would take either one for myself though lol. my dad just got a 2008 viper acr and its one hell of a car. he also has 3 corvettes. a 64 stingray, a 71 stingray, and a 06 budweiser shootout c6 pacecar. i cant wait for that new corvette zr1 to come out. it will be one hell of a car to see.

Your kinda right. As far as top speed the Z06 is faster. The ACR even with the spoiler and spliter turned to the lowest downforce setting will only get in the mid 190s. Its a track car, not a street beast like the Z06. Even Road and Track said even the ZR1 won't handle anywhere as good as the ACR, not even the 997 GT2 does(it ran 4 sec slower laps at Buttonwillow Raceway) But you are right they are amazing.

actually, the 2008 viper acr is faster than the corvette zo6. i hate to say it because i am a chevy fan, not too much of a dodge fan, but i gotta give credit where it is deserved. the viper acr isnt much faster than the zo6 and the zo6 is the better choice if money is an option but if you want somethin to beat the other american supercars, its the viper acr. i am sure that the new corvette zr1 will be a much better car than the acr though. both are amazing cars though.

interesting... how is the new SRT10 a better car than the Z06 (besides more power)?

Yes, the 07-08 600hp viper is much faster than the older 500hp vipers, and handle much much better. The last comp I watched, the new viper was running about 2sec faster around the track. The Z06 is much better bang for the buck, but the SRT-10 is a better car. As far as the ACR goes, it has completly redone aero, redone suspension, PS2's, is hella lighter, and has around 1000lbs downforce. Its a track car.

600hp is not enough power?!:) what differences are there between the ACR and the normal SRT10? did they change the handeling at all for the 600hpSRT10 compared to the old 500hp SRT10? I remember watching a 5th Gear episode where they raced a normal C6 corvette against the 500hp SRT10 and the SRT10 barely won. the Corvette was much faster through the corners and the Viper was faster on the straights.

Around a track like Laguna or Road ATL or something, the ACR will make the ZR1 and Z06 look like a bitch, but on a track like the ring, it doesn't have enough power to push that downforce.

the viper ACR is a track car... if it's not faster than the Z06, that would be pathetic... do you know if there is a Nurburgring lap time for the ACR?

It may have been one of those "it looks good on paper" situations when they designed the new ZR1, and later realized the body still had too much drag to reach 200 mph. I remember when the 375 hp ZR1 came out in 1989. They said that one could do 200 mph as well, but all it could get was maybe 180 with a good tail wind. ;D But then, that was a naturally aspirated DOHC v8 - hard to work on, but at least it looked better than the supercharged Gen 3 in the new one. ;D

oh thanks..that's cool..well i thought the C6 Z06 went 198 stock? and doesn't it have 505 hp? how couldn't 625hp not go 200 or over? just asking..great comment..peace

Just a stock 05 C6 (400hp). I've worked on all kinds of Vettes (69-07). The last one I worked on was a 505 Z06. It felt like the 405 was quicker off the line (torque mgmt. maybe), but the 505 was a beast at highway speed. ;D They changed the hp spec on the ZR1. Originally it was 625 instead of 638. Hmmm. ;D I guess they had to do something to back up all the bragging about 200+ mph and 625hp couldn't do it. ;D

yeah true but the zr1 is supercharged and the c6 is stock. how much do you think the zr1 would be if it wasnt supercharged?

The stock C6 has 430HP as of 2008

stock C6...480 HP or something..don't know the exact..ZR1..638 big difference..haha..it is crazy! ^^
