Audi R8 vs Corvette LS3 - Super Lap Track Challenge

The Audi R8 is sweet but this vid was ment to make the R8 look good. Any car company can make themselves look good. Base model C6 V.S. Audi's baddest Sports car. C'mon too obvious. Couldn't u have took one step up to the Z51? I mean at least that would be almost half as much as the Audi! :-) & 4 ppl the complain about the interior etc..That's wut u get 4 a 50K car with a baddass motor, good handling, decent breaks & a Iconic name. Money's got to come from somewhere ;-) still badass!

Intresting they used the normal corvette instead of a zo6 i think they need to redo this with a zo6 and then let us know what car is faster

If you were actually listening they said the corvette is 50 grand, not 75. Watch the video again. The R8 is 130 grand base model. If you want upgrades it costs more than that. Go to audi's website and configure one.

i like the corvette but i find the r8 is much better in quality cuz the corvettes interior is basically all plastic and it has bad handleing

The R8 is so much nicer and refined than the corvette. the engine note is much nicer and the interior of the audi is flawless. who cares if the R8 is more expensive, its just worth the extra money.

then buy a living room suite instead

definately agreed! however, you don't need the ZR1 to take out the R8, just take a standard Z06 and that R8 is already royally screwed.

Wow, what an unfair race. Think hard about what you just compared? You put a 180,000 dollar top of the line car against a 50,000 dollar base package car. Guess what, if this were the ZR1 against the R8 the ZR1 would kick the living shit out of that german garbage while still being 60 grand cheaper.

Amazing, more weight, less power, 2 liters less engine capacity and still 2 seconds faster. The R8 is a handling masterclass. I mean it pulled out a one second lead just through the slalom, and it is heavier than the vette!!! I find it incredible that folks here are asking for a Z51 when this vette is already lighter and more powerful. One thing is for sure, leaf spring = garbage.

But still, did anybody else notice in the clip near the end... it shows the R8 doing the slolam, then the corvette. If you compare the slolam runs during the fast lap, and after the fast lap, doesn't it look just as fast as the Audi? I think the crappy driver was doing a sorry ass job with the corvette when he had to! But im not being too biased, my favorite supercars are ones made by corps that also make road cars! So the audi also rocks... but u can't deny the z51 wud win.

They used a base corvette.. Try a z51 car w/ the $1,600 handling option.. Different story.

you have to take in to aspect the drivers skills with all wheel drive and rear wheel drive. he could not be as good with one as the other. now a more accurate drive would be some one skilled in the rear wheel set up corvette and someone skilled with all wheel drive audi. i know this because anyone with the skill would have power slided or drifted around the corner with the vette.

All wheel drive is the way to go!

because the z06 has 505 horsepower stock and it will deinatly beat the R8 so it would be a waste of time. R8 is pretty much a good supercar but it's one of the slowest.

why is it racing that corvett? not the Z06?

great value for the corvette, I would not pay another corvette to get the r8 for that marginal difference.

Interesting. I thought for sure that the Vette would've won with that long back straight away. Of course I also thought the Vette would have handled the turns better. I bet the more expensive Vette packages would do better. Maybe they only had this model available to test. My $0.02...

Did this corvette have the Z51 handling package option?

well actually you should have tested two corvettes against one audi since that would be closer in price. why not test against the z06 or zr1?
