i'll compromise.
i love to ride my bicycle but becoming a sweaty mess takes some of the fun out of any ride that isn't just for fitness. i personally love the danger because i am constantly hyper alert to what is happening around me.
Honda motorcycles makes a model called the Innova 125i that probably gets at least 80mpg and if it was sold in the U.S. i would buy 2 for transportation. 2 wheels and little sweat.

Those bike lanes are safe? Right next to the parked cars where the cyclist is harder to see and to the right of right turning cars? These bike lanes are a violation of traffic rules.
I have yet to see any study of cycling behavior and reveal which is healthy: riding in bike lanes or learning to follow the rules of the road and riding with traffic. Best evidence: Cyclists who ride with traffic are significantly more mobile, confident and accident free
Another very important rule is remembering that if you are biking on the road with other cars, you should always follow the rules of the road as if you were a car. Avoid running stop signs, red lights, etc. If cars pulled similar erratic behavior and stopped following the rules, there would be accidents everywhere. The same applies for bicyclists. Don't assume that, as a bicyclist, the rest of the world has to watch out for YOU. Ride defensively, follow the laws, and have fun. :)
Not bad. We do need to stop assuming that a car is an essential part to everyone's life. We do need to look into alternative transportation.
But we also need to be safe. Always wear a helmet. Use hand signals. Wear reflective strips and/or lights at night.
And we need to share the road. It's not just for cars anymore. Saying the roads aren't ready for bicycles is saying motorists won't be responsible if they run someone over.
put on some more clothes and keep biking
I have no idea why someone would give you thumbs down,I totally agree...I would like to see more quality vids on sane cycling...full suspension (rockymountain.etsx 30)we are building a beautiful trail here around a lake that is going to be an allday ride, gotta ride to believe awesome Mackenzie B.C. Canada
Great message, but the only thing missing is ALL cyclists wearing a HELMET. Almost two months ago I was hit by a vehicle while riding my Bianchi with a NJ Bike Club. I was knocked unconscious and had several fractures, but credit wearing a helmet with saving my life. It was riddled with dents, cracked and the inside torn out. Without the helmet my head could have looked like that! IF ON A BIKE, WEAR A HELMET!
This is the silliest damn thing I've seen on YT for awhile. Most people that work in DC don't live in DC. They commute from the burbs or farther out. It's damn silly to think that they will drive into DC, park there car and then ride a bike with their brief case in tow. There are too many parking garages in the office districts. If DC had burbs sufficiently close where people could travel from home to work on a bike conveniently, they would have already made the switch to the bike already
Really good video, that across the board, promotes wellness for people and the enviroment. The general thought of cyclists has to change though. I wonder what the skeptics of the newly available automobile thought when they didn't want to give up their horses.
I wish YouTube would promote MORE knowledgeable videos and less Entertainment. This is very knowledgeable. The world isn't always a circus you know. Make it Electric! Come see my channel, Comon, what are you waiting for Youtube help the world! You make enough money to do so!
★★★ VIDEO!
You would make a great representative for car drivers in DC.
Don't let a few cyclists who are careless taint your image of the rest of us who ride in DC on a regular basis.
im coo coo for coco puffs!!!
it's a good thing that this is taking off. who cares who started it?
Makes me wonder... what will happen when winter comes around?
its about time. the US sucks and has to change
good job DC i hope it lasts. the bikeshare in Toronto collapsed unfortunately and was subject to terrible vandalism.
i wonder what you'll do come january though....the north american climate necessitates expansive public transit for the winter months.
vive le velo
Environmentalism = the anti-industrial revolution...
that's great...hopefully no vandals damage the bikes though :(
fuck france, it was finland, all the french started was using the city as a toilet.
cycling is for fags
DAMMIT!
i finally get my license and a car...and now this...
FML
didn't france have this bike facility thing like 30 years ago?
yea really?
bikers in DC are a PAIN IN THE ASS, they ride their bikes in the middle of the street ignoring the cars that could very well kill them
they are an annoying little pest.
We should encourage public transportation and educate the idiotic bikers |
